This is the privacy policy for Filmina (filmina.app). The short version: we don't see your video, we don't track your browsing, and we hold the bare minimum data needed to honor a Pro license.
1. What runs locally
All video rendering — color presets, effects, tuning — happens inside your browser using WebGL or CSS+SVG filters. Filmina never uploads, copies, or transmits the contents of any video, image, or page you view.
2. What we collect
The extension stores the following locally on your device:
- Your current preset, tune values, and per-site settings (Chrome
storage.local) - Your saved custom looks
- Your appearance preferences and pipeline mode
- Your Pro license key and activation id, if you have one
None of this is synced or transmitted unless you explicitly export it via Modes → Export.
3. What we receive from Polar
When you purchase a Pro plan, Polar.sh handles checkout and billing. We receive a license key and a customer id back from Polar. We never see your card number, email, or billing address — those stay with Polar. We use the license key to validate your tier every 24 hours, and the customer id to mint a customer-portal URL on demand when you click Manage subscription in the popup.
4. What we don't do
- No analytics or telemetry — we don't use Mixpanel, Amplitude, Sentry, or anything similar in the extension.
- No advertising — we don't sell or share any data with advertisers.
- No fingerprinting — the extension does not generate or transmit any device-identifying data.
- No content scraping — we don't read page text or DOM beyond what's needed to attach filters to
<video>elements.
5. Permissions
The Chrome manifest requests three permissions:
- activeTab — to attach the filter to the active tab's video element
- storage — to persist your settings locally
- tabs — to show the badge and forward keyboard shortcuts to the right tab
Filmina does not have access to host data (page content, cookies, network traffic) beyond the active tab's video element.
6. Data retention & deletion
Local data is removed when you uninstall the extension. To delete your Polar account and license records, contact privacy@filmina.app or use the account-deletion controls in the Polar customer portal.
